The 2019 schedule is out now and we have another really busy year next year with 3 competitions, a chance to take part in lots of seminars across the country and the usual testing and senior grades classes. Full details can be found here 2019 Schedule
Wales Regional Championships November 2018
We had a team of 7 students competing at the Welsh Regional Championships in Ebbw Vale on November 17th. It was a well supported competition with 365 competitors from across the UK competing across all colour belt and black belt divisions. Everybody did really well against some tough competition. Below are some pictures from the winners podium.
Black Belt and Cho Dan Bo class
Master Babak from the Netherlands is visiting the UK in November and will be teaching at the Black Belt and Cho Dan Bo class on Sunday 25th November. As this is a special chance to train with a skilled master who has worked as a professional bodyguard the class is being opened up to Red Belts and above. If you are attending then you need to take you sparring pads as the training is likely to include some close quarter combat training.
The Welsh Regional Championships are to be held in Ebbw Vale in Wales on Saturday 17th November. We have a number of students from the club competing.
Mr and Mrs Morton attended a week on the beautiful Greek Island of Samos which included a two day seminar with Grandmaster Beaudoin and Masters from Greece, Germany, Sweden and the UK. We also had a chance to observe the Greek black belt test and an outside training opportunity with Master Khan. It was a great week and our Greek Tang Soo Do brother and sisters could not have been more hospitable to us.
Black Belt Presentations
We were so proud on 1st September to promote our newest Black Belts Madison and Morgan at Nottingham University. It was also a great seminar for both colour belts and Dan grades with Grandmaster Beaudoin.
Mr Dearnley leaving Swavesey TSD
Tonight was Mr Dearnley’s last class at Swavesey Tang Soo Do before he moves to Leicester to start his PHD. He has been with Swavesey TSD right since the opening class and has been a fantastic help to Mr and Mrs Morton as well as being an inspiration to all of the students with his Tang Soo skills. He will be truly missed but we wish him well with his bright future.
The achievements of the local students at the world championships were reported in the local press today.
World Championships Results
An amazing achievement for Dylan and Jamie at the World Championships. Both of them picked up medals. With Dylan getting a 2nd place in weapons and Jamie got a 3rd in Weapons place in and a 3rd in Sparring. We are very proud of the first representative of Swavesey TSD at the world’s. Great job boys!
Jamie and Dylan have qualified for the World Championships which this year take place in Greensboro, North Carolina, USA. They are flying out on the 10th July with the championship being a two day event starting on 13th July. Good luck boys, I am sure that you will do our club and team GB proud.

Colour Belt Testing
It was the colour belt testing on Sunday June 10th. Swavesey students all did well on the floor with a special mention for Curtis who picked up the most improved student award for the white belt division.
Cherry Hinton Seminar
Great seminar today hosted by Cherry Hinton Tang Soo Do. It was good for the clubs from across the region to get together to train and help Mr Crockett raise some funds towards his Master fees.
Morgan and Madison were on the floor on 19th May for their Black Belt main test. They both worked really hard and did very well. The testing group picture is below.
Coming Soon … Cherry Hinton Seminar
We have forms for the Cherry Hinton Seminar which takes place on Saturday 26th May at Cherry Hinton Village Centre. Please take a form tomorrow night and return it with the fee of £15 for seminar only or £20 for seminar and lunch on Wednesday. We have had great support from Swavesey students at recent events so it would be really good to get a good turnout for this event which should be great fun training with the GB masters. The event is to support Mr Crockett as he goes for his masters belt. He is a good friend of the club who offered advice and loan of pads when we first opened in 2012 so it will be nice to help.
It was great to see so many Swavesey students supporting Mr Dearnley’s charity Sparathon in St Ives. Thanks to every one that gave up their time, got sponsored and donated raffle prizes and cakes. I think everyone had a fantastic time hitting the target of 100 fights.
Mr Dearnley is hosting a sparathon to raise money for the Myositis UK charity which helped him when he was younger. The aim will be to have 100 fights. This will be at One Leisure, St.Ives on Saturday 21st April from 14:00-17:00. There will be a bake sale with lots of treats to keep you energised the whole way through. It would be great if we could get as many Swavesey students there to support the event as possible as Mr Dearnley gives up his time to help at Swavesey Tang So…o Do every week and we are lucky to have such a talented martial artist working with us. It would be even better if you can get sponsored by friends and family for taking part, see Mr Dearnley for sponsor sheets. Alternatively, there is a just giving page for donations at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/bradleydearnley1
The successes of students in the Cambridgeshire region have been recognised in the local press. The screen shot below is from the Cambridge News and we also featured in the Hunts Post.
On Saturday 14th April Swavesey Tang Soo Do students competed in the National Championships held at Nottingham University. It was a fantastic turnout from the club with almost all of our students competing and the results did not disappoint with a whopping haul of trophies for forms, weapons and sparring.
