It is <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">a very varied art, covering kicks, hand <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">techniques, blocks, grappling, locks and <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">pressure points, forms, and weapons <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">techniques.\u00a0 It is an art of self defence, which <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">has both &#8216;hard&#8217; and &#8216;soft&#8217; elements within it, <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">using kicking and punching techniques as the <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">foundation for the defence. Tang Soo Do also <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">utilises the staff, knife, sword and walking stick <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">within its armoury, and a variety of different <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">techniques for all of these are taught. <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">Techniques are taught as individual and <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">combination movements and these are <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">choreographed into patterns or forms , these <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">are known as Hyung&#8217;s in Korean and are similar <\/span><span class=\"xr_tl\">to Karate&#8217;s Kata&#8217;s.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"xr_s14\" style=\"color: #000080;\"><span class=\"xr_tl\">The words &#8220;Tang Soo Do&#8221; translate from Korean to English as &#8216;Way of the China <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">Hand&#8221; where Tang comes from the Chinese Tang Dynasty. Tang Soo Do also has a <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">lot in common with Japanese Karate.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><span class=\"xr_tl\">People from all walks of life, religion, culture and gender can be found in the Tang <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">Soo Do training hall. Although the art originated in the East, there are no barriers or <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">secrets that are kept from people outside of the Korean homeland.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"xr_ap alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/swaveseytsd.co.uk\/index_htm_files\/141.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"143\" height=\"210\" \/>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #000080;\"><span class=\"xr_tl\">Students are accepted from the age of 5 years with no real upper age limit.<\/span> <span class=\"xr_s14\"><span class=\"xr_tl\">There are many benefits to be gained by practising a <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">martial art. Practitioners find it builds confidence, they <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">become more disciplined as well as learning to defend <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">themselves if need be. It keeps you fit and for most <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">becomes a way of life. Children gain a lot of confidence as <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">well as becoming more disciplined both at home and <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">school. Many parents have even found their children&#8217;s <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">school work has improved through their children&#8217;s training. <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">It teaches respect for elders and higher ranks and can <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">give your child a goal in their lives and achievements for <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">them to accomplish. It is also gives a chance to make new <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">friends and can help them understand their physical <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">abilities and limitations. Adults find it helps them to build <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">self-confidence and for some helps them cope with <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">everyday stress. As well as learning to defend themselves <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">it also gives the potential to protect our lives and <\/span> <\/span> <span class=\"xr_s14\"><span class=\"xr_tl\">possessions from injustice and danger and promotes physical and spiritual health so <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">that we may enjoy strong bodies and minds. Families that practice together have found <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">it has brought them closer as a family through having the same interests and sharing <\/span> <span class=\"xr_tl\">the same ideas.
