We had a team of 7 students competing at the Welsh Regional Championships in Ebbw Vale on November 17th. It was a well supported competition with 365 competitors from across the UK competing across all colour belt and black belt divisions. Everybody did really well against some tough competition. Below are some pictures from the winners podium.
Black Belt and Cho Dan Bo class
Master Babak from the Netherlands is visiting the UK in November and will be teaching at the Black Belt and Cho Dan Bo class on Sunday 25th November. As this is a special chance to train with a skilled master who has worked as a professional bodyguard the class is being opened up to Red Belts and above. If you are attending then you need to take you sparring pads as the training is likely to include some close quarter combat training.
Wales Competition
The Welsh Regional Championships are to be held in Ebbw Vale in Wales on Saturday 17th November. We have a number of students from the club competing.
Samos Seminar
Mr and Mrs Morton attended a week on the beautiful Greek Island of Samos which included a two day seminar with Grandmaster Beaudoin and Masters from Greece, Germany, Sweden and the UK. We also had a chance to observe the Greek black belt test and an outside training opportunity with Master Khan. It was a great week and our Greek Tang Soo Do brother and sisters could not have been more hospitable to us.
Black Belt Presentations
We were so proud on 1st September to promote our newest Black Belts Madison and Morgan at Nottingham University. It was also a great seminar for both colour belts and Dan grades with Grandmaster Beaudoin.
Mr Dearnley leaving Swavesey TSD
Tonight was Mr Dearnley’s last class at Swavesey Tang Soo Do before he moves to Leicester to start his PHD. He has been with Swavesey TSD right since the opening class and has been a fantastic help to Mr and Mrs Morton as well as being an inspiration to all of the students with his Tang Soo skills. He will be truly missed but we wish him well with his bright future.

Morgan and Madison were on the floor on 19th May for their Black Belt main test. They both worked really hard and did very well. The testing group picture is below.
Coming Soon … Cherry Hinton Seminar
We have forms for the Cherry Hinton Seminar which takes place on Saturday 26th May at Cherry Hinton Village Centre. Please take a form tomorrow night and return it with the fee of £15 for seminar only or £20 for seminar and lunch on Wednesday. We have had great support from Swavesey students at recent events so it would be really good to get a good turnout for this event which should be great fun training with the GB masters. The event is to support Mr Crockett as he goes for his masters belt. He is a good friend of the club who offered advice and loan of pads when we first opened in 2012 so it will be nice to help.
Sparathon
It was great to see so many Swavesey students supporting Mr Dearnley’s charity Sparathon in St Ives. Thanks to every one that gave up their time, got sponsored and donated raffle prizes and cakes. I think everyone had a fantastic time hitting the target of 100 fights.
Coming Soon…Sparathon
Mr Dearnley is hosting a sparathon to raise money for the Myositis UK charity which helped him when he was younger. The aim will be to have 100 fights. This will be at One Leisure, St.Ives on Saturday 21st April from 14:00-17:00. There will be a bake sale with lots of treats to keep you energised the whole way through. It would be great if we could get as many Swavesey students there to support the event as possible as Mr Dearnley gives up his time to help at Swavesey Tang So…o Do every week and we are lucky to have such a talented martial artist working with us. It would be even better if you can get sponsored by friends and family for taking part, see Mr Dearnley for sponsor sheets. Alternatively, there is a just giving page for donations at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/bradleydearnley1
